Karel Klic

From November 13-25, 2026, the Storey Gallery will host an exhibition all about Klíč and his work.

Karel Klic

Be part of creating an outstanding heritage, and cultural programme celebrating Karel Klic - Lancashire pioneer of mass production copying.

Calling all creatives - designers and artists alike - to join in celebrating the man who revolutionised the fast, cheap reproduction of images.

In Lancaster in the late 19th century, artist/inventor, Karel Klic, made the breakthrough in rotagravure printing that democratised art and revolutionised the printing of pictures in the press, in books and for home decoration.

This online gallery is an open, universal opportunity for new work created by designers and all creative types, using contemporary copying techniques, to display their talents, expertise and originality.
